FTRC Policies and Procedures for Resource Use
Mission Statement:
The goal of the FTRC is to teach faculty how to use technology to enhance their teaching experience or to facilitate their research project. Our resources are available for faculty to use in support of their classroom assignments, classroom projects, and/or academic research.
FTRC Staff can teach faculty how to use the resources available. If an instructor's schedule does not permit them (or their TA) to perform these tasks, some tasks may be completed by FTRC staff. However, these requests are handled on an individual basis (depending on the scope of the project and demand for FTRC services) and a fee will be assessed.
In addition, we now offer faculty the option to utilize our Blackboard Course Building services. Faculty should call ahead to schedule an appointment to meet with a consultant about utilizing this service.
Video production is a self-serve FTRC resource but free training on the video editing software and hardware is available. Interested faculty should call in advance to schedule a training appointment. If an instructor's schedule does not permit them to perform this task, these requests will be referred to the "Presentation Technology Services Group (PTSG)" where a fee will be assessed.
FTRC Policies & Procedures:
You may review all of our policies in print on the reverse of the FTRC Services Request Form.
The FTRC should NOT be used by students or for administrative, personal, non-UC related, or for-profit projects.
Equipment cannot be signed out by non-FTRC staff.
Walk-ins are welcome to use the equipment at any time during normal business hours; however, any training appointments should be scheduled in advance to assure staff availability. Scheduled appointments for use of FTRC resources will have priority over walk-in customers.
When requesting FTRC services, faculty patrons must adhere to copyright and infringement laws established in "UCit's General Policy on the Use of Information Technology".
Blackboard will be promoted as the primary tool to place course materials online.
Before a service request can be provided, each faculty member MUST complete and SIGN a "Services Request Form".
Faculty patrons are responsible for consumable costs associated with their FTRC Services request and must pay for these costs at the time of service. These costs include reimbursement for diskettes, CDs, limited copies, etc. (Please note that the FTRC does NOT provide printing or duplicating services.)
