Using Camtasia to Create a Video Album                      (1 hour)
Having a video album in your web course can be fun and enjoyable for students, and a good tool to distribute useful information. This course will show you how to create the materials for such an album and how to load a video album on Bb.
Note: The video album software will be distributed freely.

Building online tests with Respondus                       (1.5   hour)             
Respondus is a Windows based test builder that lets you create or import tests and surveys from a word processor file. These tests or surveys can then be printed or published to an online course in Blackboard, all from the single interface of the software. The assessment tools of Blackboard are complex to use and one has to stay online while building tests or surveys. Relatively, Respondus is very user friendly and provides an offline interface for the test development. This session is an introduction to Respondus, and covers importing questions from a word processor file, adding questions within Responds, publishing test and surveys to Blackboard, and retrieving tests from Blackboard.
Prerequisite: Basic knowledge of the Blackboard Assessment Tools.
Note: The University of Cincinnati has acquired a site license for the Respondus software and it is available to the faculty without any charge.

Using Snagit to create an Image book -                     (1 hour)
Having an image book in your Bb course or on UCfilespace can be a good way to convey visual materials. In this course, you will learn how to use Snagit to capture images and how to place those images in an Image book for Bb.
Note: The Image book software will be distributed freely.

Teaching online with Elluminate                                      (2 hours)Elluminate Live provides a synchronous, web-based communication interface for a real time virtual classroom and collaboration in academic institutions. It can be used for live online teaching, conferencing, training, tutoring or any other collaborative work. The sessions of Elluminate Live can also be archived for asynchronous delivery. This session is an introduction to Elluminate software, and is primarily for the moderator of an Elluminate session. It will cover function of its various tools, including, Whiteboard, Audio and Video Broadcast, Text Messaging, Application Sharing and Quiz Master. In addition, it will briefly cover the participant role.
Note: The University of Cincinnati has acquired the Elluminate site license for 25 concurrent users, and it is available to the faculty without any charge.

Creating Flash-Based Activities with StudyMate            (1.5 hour)   
StudyMate is Windows based Flash activity builder and does not require any knowledge of Flash programming or HTML. It can create ten Flash-based activities and games using three simple templates. This session will cover development and deployment of these activities to any web server or Blackboard.
Note: The University of Cincinnati has acquired a site license for the StudyMate software and it is available to the faculty without any charge.

Creating an Audio Textbook for Blackboard                     (1 hour)
Michele Vialet's dynamic audio textbook allows you to load images and audio by a drag and drop method and manage their display by using a word or excel spreadsheet. The Audio Textbook also has an auto play option which allows continuous play from slide to slide. In this course, you will learn how to use Michelle's textbook and load it onto Bb.
Note: The Audio Textbook software will be distributed freely

Creating Web Tutorials with Captivate     (1.5 hour)                                
Captivate is a screen capture software. With its advanced audio editing capabilities you can now create seamless screen capture tutorials with just a few click of the mouse. It also gives you the ability to import a host of media types - images, animations, and video. In this session, you will learn to how to record, edit and publish a demonstration movie

Putting up a website on UCFileSpace                                  (1 hour)UCFileSpace provides a great tool for quickly putting up websites. In this course, you will learn how to access your UCFileSpace account and put up your first UCFileSpace Website.
Note: A simple web template will be distributed as part of the class.

Podcasting and iTunes                                                          (2 hours)
In the first part of this session, you will learn how to record and edit mp3 audio files on your personal computer using Audacity software. The second part will cover the deployment of audio files for podcasting to UCFileSpace, or Blackboard. It will also cover the basics of iTunes and how to subscribe to a podcast.

Queuing Slides to Audio for Bb or UCFileSpace                 (1 hour)

If you have an audio and slides, the best way to put them together is to use Nancy Jenning's Queuing program. In this class, you will learn how to quickly set your lecture slides to audio and place them up on Bb or UCFileSpace for students to see.
Note: The Queuing software will be distributed freely.

Converting VHS Video Tape to Digital Format for the Web or DVD 
(1 hour)                  

Transferring VHS video tape content to the web is made easy using Pinnacle Studio and Movie Box. Bring in a home movie, copyright approved tape, or taped lecture and learn how to put it into digital format and place it on the web or on a DVD. You will be surprised how easy it is to do. In addition, some discussion will be given to other formats as well and some basic video editing covered.
